Seriously, aren’t you tired of seeing the 50 million examples of self-care, but no one telling you exactly what self-care is?

Honestly, I don’t know why that is but it all stops here.

I am going to tell you the exact definition of self-care as well as what it isn’t.

So let’s jump right in.

book says create a life you love

The Definition of Self Care

The only definition of self-care that you’ll need is that self-care is something you deliberately do to take care of you.

There are 9 different types of self-care that encompass every aspect of your life. They are:

Emotional Self-Care

Psychological Self-Care

Professional Self-Care

Physical Self-Care

Spiritual Self-Care

Financial Self-Care

Social Self-Care

Environmental Self-Care

Personal Self-Care

Self-care is all about taking time out of your busy life and checking in with yourself.

It’s about knowing how to replenish yourself.

Self-care is about taking a proactive stance on life so that you never get low on energy.

It’s about being there for yourself like how you are always there for others.

You are important!

You have to be good to yourself and do things that uplift and recharge you.

What Self Care Isn’t

Self-Care is Different For Everyone

Maybe getting a manicure does nothing for you.

Maybe you are more into reading a book.

You have to try different things and see what works for you!

Not what works for the model on IG, or what works for your best friend.

It has to work for you!

Self-Care Isn’t Harmful

So no matter how fun it may be to get drunk, that’s not self-care.

Getting drunk, high, binge eating, and risk-taking, are not part of self-care no matter how much fun you think it is.

Self-care Isn’t Always Reactive

In fact, if you practice self-care the right way, it should be proactive so that you live a life with a lot less stress.

So you don’t have a breakdown or go into a state of depression.

If you practice self-care the right way, your cup should remain full or nearly full so that you can continue to be the best for yourself and for others.
