Having 3 kids, one via c-section, and 2 VBACs, I am very familiar with excess belly fat!

To determine if you have too much belly fat, you can use a tape measure at home and measure around your belly.
Sit the tap measure right above your hips and record your measurement.
If you are a woman and you measure 35 inches or more than that could mean you have an unhealthy amount of belly fat.
If you are a man, and your measurement taken right above your hips is 40 inches or more, could mean you have an unhealthy amount of belly fat.
Why Does Belly Fat Happen?
There are a number of reasons why you may have increased belly fat, some of it may be due to hormones, genetics, and some of it may be things that we can control.

Sugary Drinks and Foods
A big culprit of why belly fat happens is because of sugary drinks and foods.

However, high alcohol intake may cause not only belly fat but diseases such as inflammation, liver disease, and others.
Alcohol suppresses fat burning and the extra calories stored from alcohol are stored as belly fat. So this is why the term beer belly is used and seen!
No real big shocker here, but by not working out, not moving your body, and just being sedentary all the time leads to excess belly fat.
In fact, if you remain sedentary after weight loss, then you can regain your belly fat.
