When you feel down, depressed, overwhelmed, and just ready to give up, you definitely need some motivation to get you going again.  

Now listen before you exit and think I am full of crap let me explain.  

I’m not talking about a talk with your friends or family who just don’t get it.  I’m talking about a specific talk that encourages you, uplifts you, and pushes you forward.

Just in case you aren’t familiar with a TED talk, I will let you know what it is.  A TED talk is short, concise, straight to the point, informational speech that is very powerful.

Because these talks are short all of the extra verbiages is removed and only the most impactful, essential, ideas are left which leaves you feeling raw in a good way.

Why Listen to TED Talks?

 Listening to TED talks help to assure me that it is ok to grow.  It is ok to change. It is ok to transition.

These TED talks have gotten me through tough times and I know they will do the same for you!

I challenge you to listen to at least one of them not be moved.  I know you will be moved and feel much better than you had before watching this talk or else I wouldn’t be writing this article for you.

1. My philosophy for a happy life – Sam Berns

If you have not heard of Sam Berns, please do your research.  

This young man is amazing and awe-inspiring.

What he had dealt with and still was so happy and optimistic is an inspiration to us all. To see and hear his dreams and how encouraged he remained is unmatched.

 If you do not watch any of these videos that I suggested, you at least have to watch this one.

To know, that he passed away shortly after this video is heartbreaking. Watch this video now and you will be moved!

2. How the Worst Moments in our Life Make us Who We Are – Andrew Solomon

Andrew Solomon who is a writer gives inspiration on why when things are going wrong, why these are actually the most profound moments of our lives.  

He shares stories of people who he has met throughout life and how their worst moments made them who they are today.

In this talk, Peter Sage speaks up about what we truly need in life.  

He talks about what we truly need in life to reach our full potential and to make real connections with one another.

Suffer from depression? (As I too, slowly raise my hand).

Wouldn’t be great if we could get ourselves to do what we need when we need it done?  

I’m talking about everyday things like washing dishes, sending that email we need to send, as well as things that don’t happen that often, making hotel reservations, making eye doctor appointments, or starting that business perhaps.  

It would be really, really, really, nice if we could do these things and more without having to have external forces motivate us. Well, in this TED Talk, Scott Gellar gives us insight on how we can become self-motivated?

7. Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable – Luvvie Ajayi

Do you want to be comfortable in life?  Have you ever thought about being uncomfortable?  Do you know that being uncomfortable yields growth and can lead to passion?

This message is beautiful.  

Self-love is what we need more of in this world. It is something I desperately need to and I am working on.  

Learning to love yourself not based on your looks. Clothes, how much money you have, the car you drive, but just because you are you is something that we could all use more of.

In the times that we feel so connected to one another because we are a spectator in everyone’s lives, does this mean that we are truly connected or is it all an allusion?
